A yearbook committee spreads the work and gives students real ownership. It does not need to be big.
Five roles
- Editor: owns the calendar and the final say
- Photo lead: collects and chooses images
- Copy lead: quotes, captions and messages
- Proof reader: names, spelling, classes
- Liaison: the single contact with the yearbook provider
A simple calendar, counted back from graduation
- Decide the provider and the edition
- Open student submissions
- Chase once, then chase again
- Review the first proof
- Final proof and sign-off
- Print and delivery with a buffer
Keep teachers out of the weeds
The committee should handle content and decisions. If it also handles layout, printing and money, someone will burn out. A managed service takes layout, proofing, print and orders, so the committee only chooses and approves.
